The Farmhouse

Founded in 1935 by Nazareno Battaglini who bought an olive grove and a traditional olive press, the Bruno Battaglini’s Farmhouse is situated on the hills of Lake Bolsena, 400 metres above sea level. The olive groves of the Farmhouse extend along gentle slopes in a favourable position: salubrity of the air, quality of the soil and the proximity of the lake determine an optimal microclimate for the biological cultivation of the olives. Since three generations, the Battaglini’s Farmhouse has attended to the cultivation of three typical cultivars of olives: "moraiolo”, “caninese”, “frantoio”, and to the production of a high quality olive oil. With their experience and rigour Andrea and Stefano, together with their father Bruno, intend to exploit the qualities of the olive by following every single moment of the oil production, which goes from the agronomic methods to the processing of the product in the olive press. After the ripening, the olives are hand-harvested directly on the plants and then cold pressed, within 24 hours, in the olive press Bruno Battaglini controlla le olive prima della macinazioneat a maximum temperature of 27° C. This productive method preserves the natural substances of the fresh olives, giving the extra-virgin olive oil of the Battaglini’s Farmhouse a fragrant nuance, a green colour with golden hues, a fruity scent, an harmonic and full-bodied flavour with a perfect combination of bitter and pungent notes. Due to its characteristics, the Battaglini’s Extra-virgin Olive Oil is an appreciated seasoning in the Mediterranean cuisine recommended for a healthy and a well-balanced diet.
